  17.     The only hard work is entering
  18. all of the ballots but Judi and I
  19. have been doing it for 30 guests
  20. every year and it's not too bad.

  22.     Take a look at the "nominees
  23. file" with a word processor to see
  24. how it's laid out.  Just in case you
  25. can't get the file from our BBS you
  26. can always create one of your own.
  27. The nominees are listed all in
  28. lowercase and one right after
  29. another.  26 characters maximum.
  30. We've found that it's a good idea to
  31. list the movie in parentheses after
  32. each person's name.  Many Softdisk
  33. people aren't familiar with people's
  34. names but will vote for a particular
  35. film they liked.  Of course, many of
  36. the technical awards and foreign film
  37. awards are completely guessed at.

  39.     In fact, these oddball awards are
  40. what make or break the competition.
  41. We all knew that "Forrest Gump" was
  42. going to win a bunch last year, but
  43. who knew anything about the foreign
  44. films?

  46.     If a potential guest says, "But I
  47. haven't seen any of these films!"
  48. just tell them, "That's okay.  We
  49. haven't either.  And it doesn't make
  50. any difference who you think [should]
  51. win.  You're trying to guess who the
  52. fatcats in Hollywood voted for, and
  53. you know how wishy-washy they are."

  55.     Don't throw this program away.
  56. If you don't have a party this year
  57. you may have one next year.

  60. way how computers [can] improve our
  61. lives.  Can you imagine what a hassle
  62. it would be to have a party like this
  63. with 30 guests and trying to compile
  64. all of the scores by hand?
